ZENITH DSS

Description

Zenith DSS is recognized as one of the most effective wetting agents and surface tension depressants. It is sodium di2-ethyl hexyl sulfosuccinate and is supplied as a 75% active liquid. Zenith DSS is used extensively by the textile industry as a wetting and rewetting agent as well as finding application in the paint, paper, adhesive and industrial cleaning industries.

Typical Properties

Appearance:

Clear light amber liquid

Solids Content:

74 - 76%

pH:

6.0 - 8.0

Specific Gravity:

1.07 - 1.08

Application

Textile Industry

Because of its rapid wetting effect Zenith DSS is used for both textile wetting and rewetting applications. It is efficient in both hot and cold liquors and is stable to hard water as well as the normal acid concentrations used in textile processing.

Paint Industry

Zenith DSS can be used in the production of paints, lacquers and printing inks. The wetting and dispersing of pigments may be improved markedly by the use of 0.5 to 1.0% of Zenith DSS.

Paper Industry

Zenith DSS finds application in pulp manufacture, in water removal during paper production and in the washing of felts.

Emulsion Polymerisation

Zenith DSS can be used in a wide range of emulsion and suspension polymerisation systems. Zenith DSS influences such factors as:

particle size and distribution

viscosity of final polymer

Zenith DSS is extremely versatile in that it can be used with a wide range of monomers. These would include acrylic esters, styrene, vinyl acetate, maleates as well as multi-functional monomers.

Because of its low CMC, Zenith DSS is a very cost effective surfactant for emulsion polymerisation.
